چکیده

An approach for reconstructing wireframe models of curvilinear objects from three orthographic views is discussed. Our main stress is on the method of generating three-dimensional (3D) conic edges from twodimensional (2D) projection conic curves, which is the pivotal work for reconstructing curvilinear objects from three orthographic views. In order to generate 3D conic edges, a five-point method is firstly utilized to obtain the algebraic representations of all 2D projection curves in each view, and then all algebraic forms are converted to the corresponding geometric forms analytically. Thus the locus of a 3D conic edge can be derived from the geometric forms of the relevant conic curves in three views. Finally, the wireframe model is created after eliminating all redundant elements generated in previous reconstruction process. The approach extends the range of objects to be reconstructed and imposes no restriction on the axis of the quadric surface.

From 2D Orthographic views to 3D Pseudo-Wireframe: An Automatic Procedure

Three-dimensional CAD models are usually used by designers because of their multiple uses (visualization, simulation, machining). However, nowadays, multi orthographic view engineering drawings are still widely used. Accordingly, a conversion tool for obtaining 3D CAD models from 2D drawings (known as the ”reconstruction problem”) is a very useful approach in a broad range of applications. The ...

Reconstruction of 3D interacting solids of revolution from 2D orthographic views

3D CAD is replacing 2D CAD to improve efficiency of product design and manufacturing. Therefore, converting legacy 2D drawings into 3D solid models is required. CSG based approaches reconstruct solid models from orthographic views more efficiently than traditional B-rep based approaches. A major limitation of CSG based approaches has been the limited domain of objects that can be handled. This ...

Neural Network Based Reconstruction of a 3D Object from a 2D Wireframe

We propose a new approach for constructing a 3D representation from a 2D wireframe drawing. A drawing is simply a parallel projection of a 3D object onto a 2D surface; humans are able to recreate mental 3D models from 2D representations very easily, yet the process is very difficult to emulate computationally. We hypothesize that our ability to perform this construction relies on the angles in ...

There are mainly two categories for a 3D reconstruction from 2D drawings: B-Rep and CSG that both these methods have serious weaknesses despite being useful. B-Rep method which has been older and have wider function range is problematic because of high volume of calculations and vagueness in answers and CSG method has problem in terms of very limited range of volumes and drawings that it can an...
